A Taste of Colorado | Labor Day Weekend

A Taste of Colorado, a four day, Labor Day weekend event, is a revival of the Festival of Mountains and Plains, originally a carnival similar to Mardi Gras, that celebrates the ending of summer.  It originally started in 1895 and ran until 1902 and was revived in 1983.

There were more than 50 Colorado food establishments and some 280 artisans and misc vendors that lined the streets surrounding Civic Center Park.

Hubby and I spent a few hours with my brother and his girlfriend, Raelene, walking around and tasting what the festival had to offer.  I only took a few pictures, but thought I'd share.

The crowd.  It actually wasn't too bad.

Hubby (teal shirt), Greg (white shirt) and Raelene (partially hidden by Greg).  Not my best photo composition.

Some of the food choices.

Sirloin ka-bob.  It was delicious!

Lots of turkey legs.  We didn't try those.

A close up.

Cheese curds!  These were Minnesota State Fair worthy!  We shared, though, so I was good and only ate a few!  Back in the day, at the Great Minnesota Get Together, we would eat 3 baskets each through out the day.  What were we thinking?!?!

It was a wonderful afternoon.

Til next time ~ find your joy!
Kelly
